This antibody is obtained by immunizing rabbits with a mixture of three synthetic peptides corresponding to aa64-77 (KVATREQILGIVAD), aa119-131 (RMQVAAVVRNHCT), and aa219-231 (SNSTLLTKGASRS) of the SMYEAV coat protein.The IgG fraction was purified using Protein G-Sepharose.

This polyclonal antibody reacts with extracts of SMYEAV-infected plants in PTA (Plate-Trapped Antigen)-ELISA (1: 50 dilution). SMYEAV belongs to the genus Potexvirus of the family Flexiviridae and its genome consists of a single-stranded positive-sense RNA. SMYEAV has a flexuous filamentous morphology with a coat protein of 25 kDa and it is transmitted by an aphid and grafting.
